Ashtanga
Yoga.
A firm foundation. A long spine.
Traditional Ashtanga Yoga as taught by David Swenson: breath and movement linked into one steady, moving meditation. Private, online and Mysore-style classes with Ricardo.

What is Ashtanga
The eight-limbed path.
Ashtanga means “eight limbs”. The name comes from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, which describe yoga as a complete path — from how we treat others to how we sit in stillness.
The physical practice we know today was taught in Mysore, India, by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. It is a fixed sequence of postures, always the same, linked by breath. Because the sequence does not change, you can see clearly how your body changes.
Asana
Posture — a steady, comfortable seat for body and mind.
Tristhana
Three places of attention.
Ujjayi
Breath
A slow, even, audible breath through the nose. It warms the body from inside and keeps the mind present.
Bandha
Energy locks
Gentle engagement of the pelvic floor and lower belly. It lifts, protects the spine and lightens the movement.
Drishti
Gaze
A fixed point for the eyes in every posture. Where the eyes rest, the mind follows.

The Primary Series in motion.
The Primary Series is called Yoga Chikitsa — yoga therapy. It cleans and aligns the body. Tap a posture to see it move.

My practice
Still, and forever, a student.
I was trained as an Ashtanga Yoga teacher by David Swenson, one of the most respected teachers of this tradition worldwide.
Even as a teacher, I remain a student of this wise system. Every day it teaches me, through practice, how to establish a firm foundation and lengthen the spine — not only in the body, but in life.
Today I share it in personal online classes and in person at our yoga center in Costa Rica, next to the detoxification work.

Yoga & detoxification
A lighter body moves more freely.
Less mucus, more movement
A clean, fruit-based diet reduces congestion and stiffness, so postures open with less resistance.
Breath that cleans
Deep ujjayi breathing and movement pump the lymphatic system, which has no heart of its own.
Heat and sweat
The inner heat of the practice supports elimination through the skin — your largest eliminative organ.
